Very often people think that religious texts such as the Bible should be completely ignored. I believe the insights on human behavior and philosophy should not be ignored.
Acts 17:32 NLT
When they heard Paul speak about the resurrection of the dead, some laughed in contempt, but others said, “We want to hear more about this later.”
One can learn two different things from this passage. First, this idea of a body coming back to life after death was considered silly and ludicrous even in ancient times. Second, the resurrection of the body was an idea intriguing enough to cause some to want to learn more.
The idea of a resurrected body was interesting because the Greeks only believed in living on as a legend, through children, or as a spirit without a body. Plato popularized this and the idea of reincarnation. However, reincarnation isn’t true any more than the Holocaust is.
And that is why people slowly gathered around a religion announcing a future physical resurrection. Human beings understood the reality that they would not live on as a legend, through children, or as a spirit. Once a person’s body ceases to function, so do they.
I am my body. My body is me. I cannot separate myself from my body. Skeptics cannot deny this reality.
